Installing Fandangle Delicious Module

E-mail

If you notice on the left hand side of my website I have a Tag Cloud displaying my Delicious bookmarks to share with my website visitors such as yourself.

To display Delicious books marks on your website you will need to download the Fandangle Delicious module.  Save the module in a folder that you will remember where it is.

Download: Fandangle Delicious module

If you have a Joomla 1.5 testing website on a local server such as a LAMP Server (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), you can test the various options available with this simple to use module. You will probably be familiar with these settings in your Delicious account.

Quick Module Installation Instructions
A lot of you know how to install Joomla 1.5 extenstions (e.g. templates, components, plugins, modules) so I wont go into great detail on how to do this.

Login: to the backend (Administrator) of your website.

Select: Extensions --> Install/Uninstall

Fandangle Module Parameters

Below is an image of the Fandangle Module Parameters

Here is a break down of what each parameter setting does.

1. Username - You need to put in the Username you log into Delicious (e.g. my Username is: doogalazza)

2. Title - This is the title you want to display above your tag cloud (e.g. I chose: Fandangle Tag Cloud)

3. Qantitiy - This is the number of tags you want to display. If you have 1,000 you will definitely want to chose a lower number.

4. Minimum Font Size - This sets the smallest font size relating to lowest number of bookmarks you have for a particular tag word (e.g. I chose 12)

5 Maximum Font Size - This sets the largest font size relating to highest number of bookmarks you have for a particular tag word (e.g. I chose 35 allowing for the limited width of the left margin)

6. Minimum Font Color - This sets the font color for the lowest number of bookmarks you have for a particular tag word (e.g. I chose 73ADFF which is a light blue)

7. Maximum Font Color - This sets the font color for the highest number of bookmarks you have for a particular tag word (e.g. I chose 3274D0 which is a darker blue) You can experiment with various color codes.

8. Sort - This will allow you to display your tags either Alphabetically which is very explanitory or by Count. Count, meaning the tag with the highest number of bookmarks will be displayed first and ascending to the lowest number of bookmakrks per tag

9. Flow - Cloud will display a mixed display depending what you chose for the Sort selection. List will simply list all your tags.

10. Icon - This will display the Delicious icon.

11. Tag Count - This will add the number of how many bookmarks you have for each tag.

12. User Name - This will dispaly your User Name (e.g. my User Name: doogalazza) which allows visitors to go to your Delicious account and see what bookmarks you have saved in your Delicious account.

13. Add To Network - Visitors who like the bookmarks you are saving to your Delicious account and want to link to your bookmarks for reference and linking to the bookmarks you have saved to the Delicious social network site.

As I mentioned, if you have a testing website on a local server, play around with the options and see what suits your needs.
