There have been a lot of complaints about the Joomla 1.5.12 patch and very little in explaining how to fix the TinyMCE issue. You may notice that TinyMCE doesn't work e.g. text alignment to an image. This tutorial will explain how to work around this issue. Don't worry there is no coding involved.
I updated my website to Joomla 1.5.12 and thought it was a great update, until I tried to write an article using the default TinyMCE editor. When I inserted images and align the text left of the image, it doesn't work. Bugger!!! I searched the internet and forums and found this was a major issue with Joomla 1.5.12. The advice for this issue was to change the name of the TinyMCE plugin.
Yes but how do I do this? I must admit I was confused with this answer and I'm not a noobie. Well here is what I did to fix it and it seems to be working now(fingers crossed).
Go to: Extensions--> Plugin Manager
You will notice that TinyMCE is listed as: Editor - TinyMCE 2.0
Click the Editor - TinyMCE 2.0 plugin to open it in the Plugin [Edit] page
As you can see the Name is: Editor - TinyMCE 2.0
Joomla 1.5.12 has updated the TinyMCE editor to version 3.2.4.1 and yet it is listed as TinyMCE 2.0 To over come this problem there are a couple things we need to do.
First we need to change the plugin name to Editor - TinyMCE 3.2.4.1
We will also need to change the plugin Parameters
1. Functionality - Select Extended in the drop down list
2. Code Cleanup on Startup - Choose Off
3. Code cleanup on save - Choose Never
Save the Editor - TinyMCE 3.2.4.1 plugin. It should be working properly now.
**UPDATE** If you are having problems embedding Youtube videos here is a solution.
Go To: Embed Youtube videos in your Joomla articles.

PD
I have jce installed.
thanks!
After searching like many, I took a look at the tip here and looked at the Plugin Manager as suggested and spotted an option button set as below:
Code cleanup on save: [Never] [Front Only] [Always]
It was set to 'Always', so I set it to 'Never' and tried it again and my own problems with the editor in J1.5.14 have been resolved and all my image positioning and spacing coding is now retained when I 'apply' or save' a page I have been editing.
Give this a try, it may work for you!

My plugin didn't even have a version mentioned (Joomla 1.5.115.
It should be mentioned prominently on the JOOMLA.org pages. *I* spent hours there and didn't find how to do it.
My appreciation is incredible.
WOW!
