Create a Contact Us Page

E-mail

You've got you Joomla website up and running, but how do your website visitors contact you (e.g. send an email letting you know that your article has a typo etc.). This tutorial will teach you how to create your own Contact Us menu and page.

Go to your backend Administrator website. At the top menu select; Components --> Contacts --> Categories

Then on the top right hand menu select ; 'New'

This will create a new contact category

Now enter the title of the category. In this example I have chosen 'Contact Us'

Also remember to click 'Yes' for Pubished. This will allow the page to show on your website. When you have done this save the category

At the top middle menu bar select 'Compnent --> Contact --> Contact

This will take you to the Contact Manager page which has a list of users you have assigned to your website. Click the user you want  linked to the 'Contact Us' page.

Fill in the details of the contact person, position and set the parameters of what you want shown in the contact us page and what you don't want people to see (e.g. your home address etc). When you have completed your users contact details save it.

Now that you have created your contact page you want to show it to the world (literally). Most websites have a contact us menu button on the top navigation bar. To do this go to the top menu bar and select 'Menus --> Top Menu

Create a new menu by clicking the New button on the top right hand side.

This will take you to the 'Menu Item Type' page Select Contacts --> Contacts (Standard Contact Layout)

This will take you to the Standard Contact Layout page.

1. Title: - the title of the page will be 'Contact us' and Alias 'contact-us'

2. Display in: - make sure you have selected Top Menu

3. Published: - make sure the yes option button is selected. this will allow your contact menu to show on your websites top navigation bar.

Click save and your new Contact us link should appear.

Here is an example of my Contact Us page and notice the contact us link in the top navigation bar.

I hope this tutorial has been helpful. If you have any questions, feedback or suggestions feel free to contact me on my new contact us emailing page.

Enjoy!!!

Thank you for this tutorial! It worked - however, on my page, I have this text before the form:

Contact information of the website owner can be inserted here from the administrative panel

Could you tell me: Where is that coming from and how do I get rid of it? Thank you!!! I'm new to this! lol
